Subject: Speedo and overdrive dont work when wet IP: Logged
Message: Question for you fine folks, my father's 94 dakota (5.2) has recently acquired some interesting problems. When the roads are wet or slushy, or raining, the speedometer will not work and the overdrive kicks out. Yet as soon as you turn the headlights on, the speedo and overdrive resume working. This condition is only present in wet weather. Is it possible that the wire from the speedo gear may be cracked and due to the water underneath the vehicle, is shorting out the signal.....if so why does this affect the overdrive?
Any help would be great

Message: //me snickers// check to make sure the transmission pan is still in its predestined position. Sorry, rough day at the office. I have seen MANY a problem in dakotas and have NEVER come across such a phenomenon. Good luck with whatever it is. Please repost with any updates as I would love to know about it.
