Anyone have the factory service manual for a 2001? I need to know if someone can look up on a schematic ( I'm assuming they have one in the service manual) and let me know which wire is the positive for the front speakers on both sides of the dakota. Thanks,

Thanks, was that out of the service manual? That's the exact opposite of what I figured it out to be tonight. I have the factory plug plugged into the factory speaker and I connected a 9 volt batt to the 2 leads coming out of the plugs with the + of the batt on the lg/dg and the - on the other one the speaker cone moves out and thats the way I was told to tell if the polarity is correct. Now I'm all confused!!!

The 9 volt batt is supposed to be the real test, what I posted is from the factory service manual.

Think you had the battery reversed, using a d battery put the positive side of the battery and the negative to the speaker wires then when you touch the speaker wire to the battery if the speaker moves out then wichever speaker wire is connected to the positive side of the battey is positive on the speaker.if it moves inward then switch the wires untill it moves out and you will know what wire is what on the speaker
