Subject: RE: Squeeling sound when cold IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 dodge ram 1500 and I have that same damn problem. When i turn on my truck in the morning (usually around 9 or 10 at 40 degrees outside)it starts squealing and does it as i drive to class which is about 1.5 miles away. After the engine warms up a a little it goes away. this only happens when the engine is cold. I know it's not the belt because it's new and i don't know if it's the fan-clutch or the water pump. But my truck never heats up and that's the thing. anyone????

Message: sounds like your belts aren't tight enough. Belts stretch when
they warm up eliminating the squeal. Try getting some belt
dressing at the auto parts store(belts may be slippery because
they are new) and if that doesn't work tighten up the belts a bit.
