Subject: Dipstick Reading IP: Logged
Message: I got a 99 5.2 and every time I check the oil[vehicle reasonably level] the back side of the stick for instance will be full and on the front side it will be in the middle of the "add" mark so for example according to the front I am down about a 1/2 qt. Which side do you believe?..I have been leaning towards the backside reading and hopeing that is correct. Any words of wisdom appreciated.

Message: Im not sure about yours, but are the marking in the same location on the stick? I've seen some where there were marking for the oil being cold and warm and since the oil is thinner when its good and warm the marking weren't on the same spot on the dipstick. Just a though for ya to check out.

Message: Thx everybody for the replys. If I was to use the side your supposed to read and it was to the full line then it would put the backside 1/2 qt over full. Of course I dont want to overfill it due to seal leakage. If your on the "full" line and flip the stick over its 1/2 qt over full, no markings on the backside but that should not make a difference. The dipstick appears to be the correct one[oem].
