Subject: I think I goofed please help IP: Logged
Message: I fixed my intake mainfiold leak but now there is a strange clunking in the engine, it does not happen all the time but mostly when I push down the pedal. I took it for a test drive and noticed this. I hope some of the gasket junk didn't fall in or anything eles, I didn't have that problem before.
What else could be making that nose??
Thanks

Message: I don't think I am missing tools, and it would have to be be small stuff that fell in, like a washer or a small nut maybe....I am hopeful that if it was old gasket materal it will break down then I'll flush my oil.

Message: IF you even -remotely- suspect a washer or nut fell in, I'd be lifting that intake off to see if it was still there. If not, I'd drop the oil pan to see if it had made it's way down there. Likely it's in one of the two places.
Loose washers/nuts inside an engine are -big- trouble.

Message: The clunk that I hear is only when I really step on the gas, could it be a fuel delivery problem? I am starting to think its not in the engine block itself, I don't know how anything other than some dust could have fallin in. I changed the oil but did not see anything unusual.
Does a cylinder sound funny if its not firing right?
Thanks
