In Oct. I spun out and nailed the hwy median. The entire driver's side got smashed.

Sank the front left suspension (everything in by 2 inches), and bent my left rear axle.

I've gotten the truck back, and it's making a rubbing sound when I make a right turn,,but I can only hear it (my truck's pretty loud) when I'm going like 20mph or faster amd turning right. I can't see anyplace where the tire is rubbing (running stock wheels/rims on 2/2 drop - never any problems before) ,,so I can't figure out what it might be. Could there be some other component rubbing besides my tire?...Any Ideas???????? It's driving me mad!

Also - the left axle was bent,,,it's been replaced,,but I think I'm hearing a 'whine' from somewhere in the back,,but I can't locate it. The body shop and insurance say it's rare for there to be damage to the diff/gears from such an accident, but it's starting to worry me,,,and they wouldn't even look at it. Is it possible to have busted something back there?

I hit the wall sideways going about 55mph,,pretty much stopped me cold.

Can someone throw some ideas my way?,,,I really need to get this fixed before Xmas (going on long trip). Any help's appreciated.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

Sounds like you may have got a bad wheel brg or axel bearing , Did the wheels get bent ? Did they replace the RF bearing ? Is the noise from the front or back ?

If the rear axle was replaced they should have inspected the diferential for internal damage! in the interest of safety, have the differential inspected by a rear-end shop, check shims and ujoint angles(if they find anything have them give it to you in writing). if your truck took that much of a hit, why didn't they total it? My approach to a vehicle that has sustained a hard impact is: even if they repaired it--it will never be the same--peddle it! use it as a learning experience and move on--build one that's better, nicer, etc. I'm not flaming you, just passing on the lessons learned from 30 years of dealing with trucks/jeeps/hot rods. trkdrvr

Thanks for the info. I didn't even think about bearings. The rubbing is coming from the front left tire. That part of the suspension was sunk in about 2inches.

Trust me,, I was pissed too when they didn't even look at the diff. I yelled at the shop and insurance company for this,,,and made both put notes into the claim about them both refusing to look at it,,so I think I've got my butt covered.

The shop I go to is usually really,,really good about this stuff. I blows my mind they won't take the time to scope it out.

I'm going to another shop closer on Monday.

But,,ya, It's not the same. I could tell the moment I took it back. That's why I'm currently pricing out a '03 Ram 1500 5.7 RC / 3.92LS / Pwr Everything,,I'm thinking I'll come in just under $22K,,or better.
Heheheheeee

Yeah, I was pricing the new Rams too. I love the look of the Ram. I hate you have to pick from a 2 or 4 door Ram and no extended cab at a middle of the road price. Pisses me off. I finally got my 2001 Dak paid off, so I reckon I outta just keep it and hope for years of happy driving, cause the trade in value (kellybluebook.com) on my Dak is only like 13K or so and I paid 21K just 1.5 years ago. Depreciation sucks.

I'm telling you that they didn't come close to fixing your truck. I suggest after taking it to another shop for a "second opinion" you contact the Better Business Bureau, State Attorney General, Regional Insurance Office, the Insurance Commision, and possibly the local media after a few calls you should see some butts have been chewed.

I hear you. I'm getting to that point. Some calls will definitely be made on Monday.

However,,once she's fixed,,,I most likely won't be keeping her.
