Subject: Tire size/MPG IP: Logged
Message: I have been reading this forum and others for a long time. My 2000 CC 4.7 had 215/75R15 tires on them. I changed to 235/75R15 and also had the dealer change my pinion factor to the new tire size.
I thought that when you go up a little tire size giving you more revolutions per mile, you also get more MPG. So why did I loose MPG?

Message: A larger tire spins less revolutions per mile.
There are many factors; If you do mostly highway driving you should see a mileage increase.
Mostly city driving you wouls see a decrease because the overall gear ratio (with the larger size tire) is higher; You have to give the truck more throttle to get it going. If you do a lot of stop-and-go driving...
