 Subject: noise when wide open

I have a 2000 4.7 4x4 auto QC,When I put it too the floor as it goes into 2nd gear there is a sound like a belt slipping from under the hood,I've got a new belt but it didn't fix the prob.A friend said it may be the lifters chattering,Anybody have any suggestions on fixing this ? Thanks for any advice.Sorry for the long post

Quadman had the same problem. It turned out to be the belt tensioner, which they replaced under warranty.

Well, I can guarentee it's not lifter chatter...
The 4.7L is an overhead cam engine, no lifters! :0)
I'd say if it sounds like a belt squeal, check out the tensioner like someone suggested. Sometimes they get 'stuck' and don't keep the belt tight.
