Message: We carry the Hayes manual at Autozone for 14.99. Normally the Chilton's manual is a bit more detailed and you can get it at Advanced Auto for $15.99. As for the service manual, I think the only way you would be able to get another is to go to the dealer or from a Mopar website. Hope that helps. (I have a Hayes if you need to know if it covers something.)

Message: Dustin....Watch E-Bay, you find the dealer service manuals there at reasonable prices. I bought mine for only $25 & it appears to have never been used. Well worth the money.....Try cuting/pasting this link:

Message: Nope, never used a CD -- I never thought it to be very useful. Usually my service manual is right beside me, as it should be. Although it would be cool to print out the pages you need and not have to worry about greasing the commercial grade TP-like pages.

Message: Dustin, I found the order form and 800# in back of owner's manual when I ordered manual for my '99. The # is 800-890-4038, it's kind of neat in that they also list company and # for ordering special tools. Manual was about $90, but far superior to Chilton's or Haynes...

Message: I have the S/M on CD and like it. First time I ever bought one on CD, all the rest were on paper. Ripped pages, flimsy pages, spillage, dogeared, 15 million bookmarks, won't stay open- some of the cons I've had with paper. Just like xplikt said, if i'm going to work on something I'll print it out. But then again I also have a notebook so I can take it out to the truck if I want to ;-)

Message: Haha, isn't that true about staying open. You look at the page, do something, then look back only to find you're now on a different page.
Even funnier was when I was working on my truck's suspension. I had my Hotchkis instructions all out and they were held by the old leaf springs -- they weren't going anywhere. I go inside to grab something, but when I come out, the instructions are GONE. Just for the leafs though, not the rear sway that was under the leaf with it too. I know I set it there, but when I got back they were gone. About half an hour later I run inside and come out to find my OTHER SET of instructions are gone! HOLY FUKING INSTRUCTION MANUAL STEAL GNOMES!! I looked all over my yard and my neighboors yard on this very calm day. Nothing.
Point of that ramble is, a CD would have been nice cause I could reprint it!
BEWARE THE GNOMES!! beware.

Message: SPA = software piracy agency ???
There are illegial copies of every piece of software imaginable on kazaa i don't really think that there is anything that they could do to everyone all at once. Anyway if anyone ever decides to do this email me. I would like a copy. I know i should just pay the 90 bucks and buy one but i am a poor college kid.

Message: Nah, they prolly wouldn't care much about you as the person who started it -- which would be hard to trace. So now we need an anonymous person to upload a iso (zip, I don't care) of a cd. Then we need a anonymous tip off that you can find it on Kazaa. ;) or something like that..

Message: Ok, sorry to re-hash an old thread, but I found this manual on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34218&item=2420352808
But the $10 price tag seems a little cheap.
Anyone have experience with this company? Does this seem to be "on the level"?

Message: i purchase a shop manual from the manufacturer for all of my vehicles. i prefer to perform as much of my own maintenance as i can. i don't trust anyone else to turn wrenches on my ride.
i've compared each manufacturer's manual with the chilton & hayes. to date i've owned GM, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, Nissan, & Honda. the manufacturer's is ALWAYS superior. the diagrams are correct over 95% of the time. this is not true for the after-market manuals. i usually find helpful tips on diagnosis of components & sub-assemblies that you won't find in the aftermarket manuals.
the only downer with the dakota manual from chrysler is that the section on the computer (what is referred to as emissions control) is a separate manual. i paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $80 - $100 for the manual. chrysler didn't make the emissions control manual available at the time i purchased the shop manual. i haven't checked back to see if its available now. if you prefer to do your own work spend the money on the chrysler shop manual. if its available get the emissions book to go with it. you won't regret it.
you may want to check out on-line technical data services (like all-data i think). these weren't available to the general public when i purchased the dakota manual. they may be worth investigating. they are generally subscription services so you pay an up-front fee and then a fee per month (or quarter or year or whatever). my guess is that they're still to expensive for a retail consumer - but who knows.
