Subject: Check Engine light P1294 ??!!
IP: Logged

Message:
What is this code referring to? I was able to
find the following.

Haynes: Target Idle Not Reached. Actual Idle
speed does not equal target idle speed.

OBDII.com: Target RPM not achieved during
drive idle condition (possible vacuum leak or
IAC).

Is this the same vacum leak as the manifold
gasket problem? Otherwise, I am not sure
what it's talking about.

Thanks,
Mohd.

p-1294; check idle control (iac),check tb bore(wouldn't hurt to clean it w/ tooth brush, clean rag and carb clean or brake/parts cleaner) and function of cable and external vac leaks. How is your truck idling at this time? dirty iac passages will give low and high idle, dirty tb is the same but will sometimes stall, vac leak is high idle. more info from u will make for better desk top diagnois.

Thank you so much for your reply. I removed
the IAC and cleaned it up with carb cleaners
(didn't clean the passage enough though )
last night after I found out what the code is
referring to. Then I reset the code. By the way
what is the bore that you referred to in your
post?

The light came on again today while I was at a
red light just like the first time.

The car idles fine, I am not feeling any
problem such as shakes or rough idles.
However, I have been losing oil due to the
dreaded intake manifold gasket problem (I
believe).

It's a 99 Durango with 5.9L engine and 50,000
miles.

Thanks again,
Mohmd.
