Subject: Water leak on a 97 4x4 5.2 Dakota??? IP: Logged
Message: Ok.. I took this truck down to a dealership and they told me that the waterpump is bad and along with some hose in where water was visible leaking out in that area. I cannot remember what he said and I cannot get a hold of him, but what other hoses that is hard to reach, and it looks as if the front pulley and the rad and everything in the front has to come off.. How hard or easy is this to fix?
Thanks in Advance Guys

Message: Are you sure it's water pump and not a hose near water pump? Radiator doesn't have to come out to replace water pump. a service manual can outline procedure.

| There is a bypass hose that goes... IP: Logged
Message: from water pump to manifold. It is underneath the bracketing that holds the AC compressor. If you look hard enough you will see the hose (about 4 inches long) and the hose clamp on one end. I also have a 97 Dak 5.2, 4wd club cab. Part costs about $3.50 at NAPA and takes a few hours to replace only because of location...
