Subject: Hood Insulation IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone bought the under-hood insulation pad for the GenIII Dak ? I have a few questions about it;
1. does it make it quieter in the cab ?
2. what is it made of (does it soak up and hold water)?
3. is it easy to keep clean ?
4. how much does it cost?
5. does it come with mounting hardware?
Sorry about all the questions, but I am just wondering if it is worthwhile to buy one.
Thanks for any input.

Message: My '99 came with a hood insulation. Is that what you are talking about or is there something else out there that I haven't seen?
1. no.
2. Some really light weight stuff. It doesn't soak up H2O or hold any.
3. I never clean it.
4. Came with truck.
5. No mounting hardware needed. It just slips in to spaces in the hood bracing and hangs there. Like I said, it is really light weight.
The factory original insulation was put there to help keep heat off of the hood which can harm the paint colors. The down side is that it holds heat in the engine compartment. Hot rodders don't need that.
