I was one of those that posted a tech from Gibson said their swept side 3in system is their best re: HP/TQ gains and less noise in the cab. For a 4.7 auto, he quoted 12HP and 25FT/LBS of torque gain.
(he stated 'usable' gains in a usable RMP range)

I'm also interested in the Flow Master Delta Flow 50 Series (quiter or different sound -vs- the 40)

I have read that JC Whitney and Summit offer the best prices...

I have the Gibson single side-swept and I like it very much. It is not too much louder than stock, but sounds much deeper and more intense...almost like someone just took the stock 4.7 sound, turned it up a bit, and turned the bass way up. Add an open filter for some intake snarl, and you won't be able to keep your foot off the gas just because it sounds so nice.

I ordered a catback Flowmaster system today from a place in Florida. The techs at Flowmaster tell me the single swept side is the best and will last 5 to 10 years. Sound has a nice snarl when your on the gas but quiet when your cruising.
I paid $170.00 for the complete catback system. Sorry no chrome tip, but this is for a truck anyway.

Where did you order the flowmaster from? how much is shipping? Does it install like the gibson or do you have to pay to have it put on? What is the hp and torque gain, and what about increase in sound.

Just completed my research for the 4.7L 3inch cat-back systems. Figures below are 'quoted' from both the Gibson and Flowmaster tech lines:

Gibson Single Swept Side: 12HP and 25FT/LBS Torque gains, $289 from JC Whitney

Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow: 18.4 - 25.3HP and 23.6 - 32.45FT/LBS Torque gains, $284. They mentioned you may get it cheaper from Winners Circle (800-851-2834) or R&E Racing (800-776-6792)

Enjoy...

Just my 2 cents as I posted to another similar question. I have a 50 series Delta Flow Flowmaster single in dual out setup. Had a local shop do it for me. They ordered the muffler ( I got the part number from flowmaster) and did the whole setup for $225 plus tax. Very nice performance gain (I also have a K&N drop in filter). Especially in the low end. dont have any exact number gains but I cal feel it. Makes it VVEERRYY hard to stay off the go pedal. You cant really go wrong with a gibson or flowmaster. Its kinda like, do you want a flame red club cab or a blue quad cab. Same idea, just a little different. I have heard that the Gibson's are not quite as loud as Flowmaster but the one I heard the other day on a Durango sounded real nice. Mine talks really well when on the gas but is not loud in the cab.

I figured $170.00 might get someones attention.

Muffler House - 800-276-6399

$16.00 for ground shipping from Florida to New Hampshire. 4 or 5 days to get here.
System comes complete and bolts right up. You can easily do it yourself. I am told 9 or 10% horsepower gains which could equate to 22 HP. I was also told that depending on how your computer adjusts to this it could get you 1 to 5 more miles per gallon.
