Am I doing something wrong, or not noticing something??? I have just over 60,000 kms on my truck and I haven't done anything to the brakes yet! It seems like there's a lot of people changing pads, turning their rotors, etc A LOT sooner than this.

Message: My original rotors lasted ~25,000 miles. Had them turned. That lasted another 8,000 or so and warped again. Got new Raybestos rotors and pads. They are up to ~10,000 miles and they have warped too. They are fine when cold, but will warp good once they are warmed up. Need to get them turned. Yes I have the wheels done with a torque wrench. They still warp.
Some have suggested the auto's suffer more from warped rotors since we don't brake with the engine.

Message: I have almost 10,000 on mine with no warpage, but they are beginning to squeal some. It's gotta be that stop n go traffic in San Diego. Anyway, the pads are still good so I think I'll just take them off and chamfer the edges with a grinder to see if that helps.

Message: Just turned about 59k miles, original pads and rotors from what I can tell. Been delivering pizzas for last 10k or so, so I need to check them soon. I should think you should NEVER have to replace a rotor. Maybe that's just me though. Had to replace one on old s-10, as previous owner had let pads go so long that rivets grooved rotor, newer pads don't have rivets.

Message: 14,000 miles and doing fine. Only time I ever had a problem was towing a boat trailer down a steep windy pass. Smoked the disks pretty good, but they did not warp. Guess that's why trailers should have brakes.

Message: Both front and rear have warped several times and that includes changing both to NAPA. They warped too. I change them out and have the warped ones turned and saved until I need to put them on. I torque all lug nuts to 95 lbs./ft. I've never had this happen before in over 35 years of driving.

Message: Back in the 60's most cars cost under $2000.00. Back in the 60's cars had front drum brakes and asbestos pads. Back in the 60's gas was 30 cents a gallon. Times have changed, just look out the window.
Dakota brakes are weak. Any vehicle with alloy rims will warp the rotors if the rims aren't torqued to spec properly. If you have any work done where a wheel is removed, retorque the lugnuts in two steps in a criss cross pattern when you get home. Johnny Gorilla, the part time tire guy who works at CrapMart, with the 250lb/ft impact gun, can do more damage to your brakes than the $30.00 you save by not going to a reputable professional.
I carry a torque wrench with me and retorque the lugnuts in the parking lot.

Message: The original rotors on my '92 RC 5.2 were turned twice and were finally replaced at 216,000 miles, in 2001. What really ticked me off was when someone "waved through" a woman in stalled traffic in the right lane, and her old T-Bird totalled my Dak 6 days later. I was about to rebuild the engine and repaint the truck; she saved me the trouble.

42,000 miles now after complete brake job, Still have air in system I think. Took it to the dealer about 5 times since 5000 miles on it.
Always say they are fine. Problem is front don't always work. After the truck sits for a day or it's cold over night there's no front pedal until 3 miles out after numerous pumping.(then it's still not hard)
Dropped it off over night once and told them to drive it 20 feet and hit the brakes. I came back next day after lunch and they said it was fine and all the brakes locked up. I told them no way.
Drove it out 30 feet in 1 inch of snow and the fronts rolled and the rear locked up for 8 feet, put it in park and called the service manager back and showed him and all he could say was "I don't want to call the guy a liar"
Replaced the front rotors with NAPA rotors and ceramic brakes. The old rotors had pieces missing like they fell off in 2 to 3 spots on each rotor the size of a quarter. Bled it 3 times since and after bleeding the pedal is hard but it doesn't last. Each time I bled it the pass. side had a few bubbles but I think there is air somewhere else or something bad elswhere(like prop. valve or master cylinder)
Think I need to reverse pressure bleed. Anyone have it done or have this problem? Most post I see here are for rears. Just found this site looking for bleeding on Google!
Email with Info if anyone has any! dblztuff23@hotmail.com
