Subject: Hurst Shifter for 5spd IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 2003 cc 4.7 5 spd 3.92LS and I heard that hurst made a shifter for the truck up to the 2000. Has anybody put it in a newer truck such as a 2001 or 2002? What modifications does it require to install it.
Thanks for the info.

We really should get a group buy on these things.

I haven't changed mine yet, may never, but I looked into it months ago.
I've seen the instrucions that are posted, real nice.
However, I was e-mailing someone who used washers for the spacers, and he did NOT bend the shifter at all in a 2001.
I"m posting this in hopes that he will post again his instructions, as an option to this mod.
Good luck, still may do it someday myself.

Message: I want to bend and cut mine down anyways. I like the feel of the Hurt T's and might try one of those. Just gotta remember, the lower I make it, the more oomph it takes to shift -- at least that's what physics.

Message: That was actually going to be my next mod but after I put on my muffler i'm gonna invest in a suspension. I was actually leaning towards your setup xplikt.
But...if a group buy is started for the shifters and the price is right...i'll jump on that.

Message: I have one. Try it first before you modify it. Well worth the investment.
They are a little noisier, but they shift so much better.
If you get one be sure and TORQUE the handle down.
Also DO NOT use the rubber insolators because you handle will come loose. Then you will smack the dash. that is thge reason most hit the dash, the handle is loose, but they dont realize it.

Message: Mark, nope! No news from them. I think it's been enough time. I wonder if they have a telephone number. If there are enough people for 99/00 4.7 NV3500s then you all can go with the group buy. I am not sure if I want to have to modify one first. I was hoping they had one soon to be released...such high hopes.
So how many people with the 99 and 00s would be interested in a hurst short shifter? The same goes for the V6s with the 3500.
