Subject: Billet Fuel Doors FYI
IP: Logged

Message:
I just wanted to post an interesting FYI about the replacement fuel doors that are available for the Dodge Dakota/Ram, since there's been a bit of discussion and arguments between the two.

It turns out that both fuel doors are produced by AMP Research. The version that was purchased via the group buy earlier this year is built from billet aluminum and is of higher quality as far as finish and materials are concerned. The new "Mopar" fuel door is cast alloy which is less expensive to make, hence the price difference ($50-60 for the cast alloy, $79-145 for the billet).

AMP wanted to assure that both have the same corrosion protection and withstand the same durability/salt spray tests.

Just figured I'd FYI since a number of arguments have popped up between the two designs.
