Subject: Tie Downs IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if anyone knows if the inside of the bed at the front (near the cab) is strong enough to out tie downs on to hold cargo (dirt bikes for example), or are the walls to thin to support the load?
Any response would be appreciated. Thanks.

Message: I installed factory tie downs just like the ones at the rear of the bed, in the front on each side just behind the cab, I made a backing plate and installed it on the back side before the wahers and bolts, I used 3/8" stainless steel bolts, if you lay on the ground and look up you will see there is a void between the inner and outer bed skins.
They are very sturdy
If you go to a dealer and try to get the original tie downs they are called stikers in the parts book.

Jeff:
The factory tie downs would work great if I was only hauling one bike at a time, but I am hauling 2 wich makes it a little more interesting.
Gentleman:
Thanks for the advice, I'll have to check out under the truck to see about doing what you said. That seems like a good idea.
Thanks again.

Message: I have Pro-Trac slide-N-lock system mounted on eather inside bed caps. This sytem allows you to move you hooks in 2" incraments the whole length of the truck bed. I have tied my dirt bike to these and they only bent the bed cap in a little. This system works great because when you have a load it is imposible to get to the bottem of the bed to tie stuf down. Now I just move a hook to were I need it and I everything is tight. I use my motorcycle tie downs for maximum hold. I do not have a picture online but could in a few days if some one is interested.
