Subject: Always on power outlet??

I want to wire an always-on power outlet into my center console (bench seat, no outlet) where is the best place to tap into for the power wire? I've heard that tapping a fuse is bad.

It's really not that hard to do. MY 96 did not have a open fuse port with a power strip behind it. So i just took a remote fuse holder and glued it to the side of the box. I then went behind the fuse box and found the power strip that had power on all the time. I spliced into that wire and went to the remote fuse holder. If you REALLY want it perfect just do the same tap but use a open fuse slot and install the female ends into it and run your power wire to the outlet. I use that outlet constantly and i just thought a remote off to the side would be easier to find in the dark.
Finally if your really scared to touch anything electrical, just run a feed wire directly from the battery with the inline fuse holder by the battery.

When I had my Leer cap installed over the bed on my QC, I had them run a hot lead to 12Vpower outlet that sits on top of the rail, in the bed under the topper.

It's for future use of DVD's, TV's, etc.

They ran a fused link from the battery to it.

This way I don't have to run one thru the rear windows to the outlet under the dash of my 01 QC.
