Message: I own a 02 dodge dakota SLT. Got the v8 4.7 liter motor, with all the options. With those options, I have the skid plate package. Yeah I know the plastic crap under the truck. Anyway, oil changes really suck. I mean I have to remove the skid plate everytime. And if I have a shop do it, they just drain right into the skid plate. I found a half a quart in there last month from the previous oil change done. I have seen in the past messaage boards, something you can do, something that can be put onto the existing plug hole, and extend it??? Please any information would be great. Thanks
Steve

Message: I have seen something on the net before about some sort of valve that you can screw into the plug hole and hook a little hose onto it and drain it when u do an oil change. I'll try to find the site.

Message: Steve,
How long of an extension do you think would be needed to get out past the plate?
I think it's FRAM that advertizes a quick connect fitting with a short lenght of hose that attacthes to a fitting screwed into the oil pan. You may want to check your local auto parts.
The reason I ask, I'm having plates installed on my 02 QC 4X4 soon, so to me this info would be great. How about the filter, is it covered by the front plate?
Thanks, Bill

Message: Thanks alot for all the input. Does it work good?? No leaks or anything right?? At least now I can change my own oil without taking the skid plate off, At least the front part where the oil filter is no big deal. Thanks again.
