Why couldn't you just put on a very small pulley and then rig up a waste gate to the s/c discharge tube to bleed off boost? Not very familiar with waste gates or boost controllers....just a thought

I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work, but it poses a few problems.

First, your supercharger will be spinning very fast. At extreme boost conditions. Instead of just sometimes, it'll be doing it all the time. I have no idea how long a supercharger would last at that kind of abuse, but it's life should be considerably less than normal.

Second, high RPM means more heat, so you are actually dumping a lot of hot air into your engine. That's no good either.

bleeding off boost when the blower is spinning fast, will make about the same boost as a slower spinning blower and not bleed any boost.

im not sure what you mean though? i have a bypass valve on mine that bleeds off boost. it only does it when in vaccume or when i let off the gas. when it goes into boost, it closes up to build the pressure.

Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown.

Eric, he means put a wastegate after the blower, but before the intake and set it to a certain amount of boost. Once you reach that amount, the wastegate would open and dump the extra air, thus it never goes over a certain amount of boost.

So a BOV after the S/C wouldn't work?
Because those bypass valve setups with the bosch parts, like Speedtweeks describes, are so ugly. One of those nice shiny BOVs like on all the turbo'ed ricers wouldn't work?

It would not be a good idea, Most superchargers use a bypass valve that connects before and after the SC so your getting NA pressure and cool are (as it not being compressed), always running under boost ie wastegate would make for way too much heat and loss of driveablity. So get a pully for the correct amout of boost you want to run. the end of your motor would be the first time a svt lightnig pulled up and you turn the wastegate to 20psi

Go to http://www.speedtweaks.net/ look at the bottom of the TURBO page and read about the Info for the PRofec-B Boost Controller. Exatcly what you are talking about but what you are wanting is kinda pointless. This setup would be sweet though because you could run a smaller pully but run lower boost, then for a race turn it up. I think ima check out this setup for the faster opening and closing, probly sounds cool as hell too.

Why was the idea pointless??? just a thought that ran through my head. So the idea of being able to adjust the amount of boost on a supercharger is pointless??? Personally....I think it'd be cool as hell. Like I said....I don't know all the side effects of it, don't know what it would hurt, just thought it would be cool to put on a 14psi pulley, turn down a boost controller to drive on the street, and come race time, crank it up to 14psi without changing a pulley. But I suppose changing pulleys constantly is not pointless......

I believe he has a valid point, but the life of the S/C would most likely be shortened due to the higher RPM it would run continuously. Works with turbos, but a S/C is run off the crank, so that would be more stress on the engine as well.
