 Subject: neon lights

I am relocating to VA, and I have neons under my truck. I read that in VA "neons are illegal and must be unlit and covered when the vehicle is on a public highway." I also read that the vehicle is not considered a cover. Does anyone there have neons and what do you do with them? Do I need to just forget about it and just take them off?

I havent read it anywhere but myself and a friend talked to another friend that works for the state patrol. From what he stated the lights are illegal when your driving on a public road and could only be used for show applications. I myself havent been able to find any info on lighting of any sort for vehicle use in va. I want to run totally clear corners in the front but cant find where it says they are illegal. Hope this helps.

Here in WI I have blue underbodies, clear corners in front with all hyper white bulbs (no amber). Have never had any problems. Neons I know you cant have on while driving which I dont.

some places will let u drive with em on IF the source is not seen, but cops will still give u sh!t bout em. Im from illinois and i had blue neons on mine and it was cool but i got way to much sh!t for em even when i was in a parking lot. technicly the cover over the acctual neon is enough but its really not they will break really easily by flying debris thats what happened to my first set (thank god for warranties) anywho, i suggest not having em on while your driving, and try not to go through any huge puddles with em on they will fry. just my 2 cents

In VA neon lights under your car is legal as long as you don't have them on when your drive on public roads and that the neon tube can't be seen when it is not on, so when there installed the have to be up under the body of the car.
