I have a 97 sport, the heater will get plenty warm but the defroster is not warm at all. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the air diverter door isn't working. It's moved by a vacuum motor. Check for a bad vacuum hose. If you're brave, tear into the heat box and check if the diverter door is hooked up or broke. Good luck, it's not an easy job. Oh don't forget to check the dash control before you jump into this.

Thanks for that piece of advise. I omitted a wrinkle in the problem though. Here it is.
If you turn the blower so that the heater and the defroster is on the floor air is hot and so is the air for the side window defroster, but the air for the winshield is not. Maybe this will shine a little more light on my problem.
