Message: The stock tires on my truck are p255-65r-15's. These are difficult to find here. Everyone has p275-60r-15's in stock and alot cheaper. The speedo would be off like .1mph @ 60mph. My only concern is that those tires are 3/4 of an inch wider. Will this put too much stress on the front end?

Message: No, they won't, as long as you use them on wheels with the proper offset, such as the stock 15x8s.
It was common practice back in the good old days to go up several sizes in order to increase the contact patch for improved handling.
Most muscle cars had 14x6 wheels, with F70-14 sized tires. That would translate to a 205/70/14 in today's P metric size. We would often upgrade to a 215 or 225 width, with a 60 series aspect tire, and enjoy improved handling and increased tread life.
If you're still worried about it, try a set on Pirelli Scorpians in 255/65/15 size. The Tire Rack was selling them for $85 a piece, last time I looked.

Message: I went to 275's. Many more choices and much more readily available. Any tire is better than stock has been the general opinion.

Message: 275 indicates the width, 65 the height, and 15 is the rim size in inches. Am I right?

Message: not exactly go to http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html and plug in different numbers. If you increase the first number it affects mostly the width but also the hight alittle.

Message: I have been running 31x10.50x15's on my stock 15x8 Dakota rims for almost 50k miles now and haven't had the first problem with my front end.
