Message: I think your brain is frozen too. I can hardly make out what your saying.
Is this how you talk/think or were you just typing too fast?
Is your driveway cement and the road asphalt? Is there salt on the road and not on your driveway?

Message: I think its something to do with the front wheels being forced to turn at the same speed. When you turn(when the 4x4 in not engaged) the inside tire turns faster than the outside. If the road is (or driveway is slick) it wont do it as much. Its best NOT to do this. That is one reason the manual says use 4hi on wet or slick roads. Loose dirt is o.k too.
Hope this helps , And if someone can get more detailed , lets help this guy out.

Message: yeah, its beacause the NV233HD transfer case that is installed in the normal 4X4 dakotas is only a part-time 4WD transfer case, so when 4HI is engaged (or 4LO) the front and rear drivetrains are locked together and the inside front wheel (or rear in reverse) wheel will hop-skid around corners on dry pavement
its kinda like having a locker in the rear, but instead its a locker between rear and front drivetrains
if only they put the NV241HD transfer case in the dakota since it has 2WD, 4WD full time and 4WD/4LO part time modes
so that sound is pretty normal, just make sure you only have it in 4WD on slippery streets or loose gravel/dirt
i just put about 300 lbs of sand in my bed during the winter up here in alberta so i only need to use 4wd when the roads are pretty slick
