Subject: best wax? IP: Logged
Message: what's a great wax out there? .. I used mcguires but wanted to get your feedback. I just picked up a 2k R/T and it's black. The paint doesn't have that super lustre that I'd like it to have, also how do you get rid of old wax caked in the plastic areas such as the mirrors? I was thinking about using that turtle wax with the color pigments but I dont think I'll need it. Anyhow, what's the highest gloss/most durable wax out there?
Thanks Guys,

Message: I use Zymol on my 97 Black CC. It can take a little bit more elbow greese since it tends to leave a haze. I have used that turtle wax with the color pigments, and it did seem to make the paint shiner, but since the truck is 5 years old and its been off road before so I'm sure I had some corrosion build up on the paint. I have also used one of those clay bars before and that seemed to work too.

Message: Zaino is the only wax for dark colors. You are wasting your time and money with everything else.
Most waxes leave that hazy paste that you really need to put forth to much energy or use a orbital buffer or something to get the shine to look good.
With Zanio it is much easier to work with and the results speak for themselves.
You asked for a great wax and this is it.
If you truck is black this is what you need. See Blizzards truck!
Just my opinion, I have tried all mentioned waxes. Bottom line is what you think looks good.
The key is the reflectivity of the wax! Zaino has the highest reflectivity and the color of your truck will look deeper and sweeter.

Message: If your paint does not have that luster like you say you really need to do it right the first time and just maintain it.
Doing it right.
Claybay, Carwash soap, Pre-wax, I would use the Swirl/ scratch out in mutiple layers maybe 3.
And for after each wash use the ultra high gloss spray.
After you do this you will only need to add a coat as you feel or like to.
After each wash all you should need to do is use the ultra high gloss spray and you will be very happy you did.
If you skip the clay bar you will get some good results but from your post this is what you need to do.
You can just buy the pre wax and the swirl and start there and gradually work up to the clay bar.
You should follow all instruction and tips on the site they work.
I send my check out and get my stuff from NJ to CA in about 5-7 days. I order direct from Zaino. There may be a dealer in your area.
It is up to you how sweet you want the results to be.

Message: You need the pre wax for the Wax to adhere. So I would skip the Car wash If it is a $$$ thing but you have to have this or the ZFX.
Also You should do the strip and Clay bar at some point, like spring so it look sweet all summer! You will be amazed at the difference. I did this on purpose to see what the difference in shine is and boy could I tell.
You are on the right track! You will be very happy.
I use all of there products and they are great.

Message: If you have sqirls or scratches I would use the swril scratch wax for the best result. Since you truck is not new I think the shine will be better as well than you can put a polish coat over it at some point.
It is not a difficult process but understanding what each product does will help you get the look you want.

Message: midnightdak, with the Zaino, I applied my last coat on my truck over three months ago, and the water still beads up on it when I wash it. The trick with the Zaino to help make it last longer is to use the Zaino car wash. It contains a small amount of the actual Zaino polish so will make the shine last 6 months or more. Also, using the Z-6 every time after you wash will help it last longer. Think of the Z-6 as the same thing as Meguires quick detailer on steroids. You can actually feel the difference in the paint with just a coat of Z-6 sprayed on and wiped off. It makes it a lot smoother, especially if you have used the clay bar.

Remember that the glazes and polishes are what makes the paint shine. Wax will give a little shine but wax is mostly for protection only.

Message: It just removes it. you apply the tire gloss with a sponge as thick as you like because you come back with a 100% cotton towel and Buff to the shine you like. The more coats you put on the more it shines. All of the products work together so if you get a little tire gloss on the paint let it dry a little and buff it out with the towel and may be a little Ultra high gloss spray. What ever you need they have the product to take care of it pretty much.
You will be very happy with the product. Sounds over whelming but It is a complete product line.
Read the tips and tricks they help allot.

Message: Yeah man! You gotta read the tips and tricks at the Zaino page. Read all the info it is all good. Dawn is the only dishsoap that you can use on your paint. It stripes the wax but will not scratch the paint as all other dishsoaps will. This will also help you get the wax off the black plastic from the dealers pittiful was job. Be aware when you strip it the paint will probably look like crap. That will help you gauge what you have and what you will end up with. Then you can compare to the dealers job.
If you do not do it right the first time by clay baring the truck you will always have room for improvement once you kick it down and do it.
