Message: How many times can you recharge an air filter before it begins to break down and loose efficiency? Just curious.
I've had an Intense Performance Z-tube and cone filter for the past two years, and recharged it quite a few times after off-roading.

Message: A recharge (with a K&N air filter) consists of first cleaning the element with their cleaning solution, hosing it off to flush out accumulated dirt and sediment, then spraying the element (the 'recharging' part) with a special oil.
They claim a 1,000,000 mile life for their products, if serviced in a timely manner.

Message: the oil also works as a conditioner from what i have been told and the K&N filters wont wear out from recharging them.

Message: Something else I get to buy. Does all of the oils and stuff come in a kit?
I think I have 5k miles on my filter, but it's been through a lot of dirt and dust and stuff.

Message: Most of the time if you buy a K&N intake you get the kit included. If not you can pick up a kit at any autoparts store that sell K&N products. Usually around $20 and last a pretty good while.

Message: I just bought a recharge kit at Advanced Auto for $10 plus tax. Any autoparts place that sells K&N filters should have the kit.

Message: It looks like the "mystery cleaning and charging kit" from K&N is nothing but windex w/o amonia and tranny oil. I cleaned mine with a mixture of water and wheel cleaner and then diluded 10oz of tranny oil and sprayed with a spray bottle. It worked like a charm!
