Message: OK. The subject has been switched so many times in this post that im totally lost. I thought i saw someone talking about my problem and then the next few responses were totally different. What I have is that my cruise will some times turn on and sometimes it wont. It seems to be some kind of electrical problem because it will sometimes turn on after not working if the truck off and then back on. Also it will at times seem to loose speed when set. If set at 60 it will loose speed up a hill and seems to automatically reset itself to 55 or even slower. Does this sound like the clockspring deal to anyone (what the f**k is a clockspring???) because i dont believe my truck has had it done. Thanks Peter

Message: You folks just solved a problem I've been having for Eight Months with my cruise control. I have an '01 Quad Cab, 5.9, auto, 3:55 anti-spin. After 3 warranty dealer visits and a swap out of the CAB (anti-lock brake controller), I mentioned this T.P.S. prob I found on this site to the service department. Low and behold, they change it out after calling thier help line, and the surging and bucking is gone. Thanks for the help, guys!

Message: My issue seems to be quite different than anyone else. My 2001 (with over 178k miles) eats the paddle switch on the right side of the steering wheel, you know where you return to , cancel, and reduce speed.
For the record, my 2001 has 4-wheel, 5.? V8, auto trans, extended cab although they probably have no bearing on the issue.
I have had the thing replaced at least 5 or 6 times (I've quit counting). It will last about 3 to 6 months and then breaks. The switches are still operable but the unit sort of floats or feels loose. It has never fallen off but it is a real inconvenience.
Ah, you ask -- how come only 5 or 6 when it breaks after 3 to 6 months and the vehicle is almost 10 years old? Replacing the thing costs a bit more than I like and the frequency is a killer.
If this is happening to me, it must also be happening to others. Does anyone have a solution or some idea of the cause? The left side has never been a problem, thank you Supreme Being.
Help!!!!

Message: Those are only held in place by 2 screws behind the air bag. Pull out the two 8mm bolts that hold the air bag in place (disconnect the battery and let it sit 15 min first). Pull out the air bag and make sure the bolts are tight and not stripped. if they stripped the bolt hole then buy a drill bit and a tap and make it slightly larger and put in a new bolt. I am betting the guy replacing them has been just putting the screw back in and charging you.

Message: Thank you for the info. The last time I had the truck at the shop to fix the cruise control, I gave them your instructions and they decided not to use your procedure.
It is going in again today and I am resending the instructions. I spoke with the service writer and suggested that they follow them this time.
I apologize for not responding sooner. I wanted to see if this would fix the issue. Now, it is just a matter of time (today) to find out.
Thank you again
EJ
