The check engine light has turned on. Is there anyway that I can check whatever needs to be checked, and how do I re-set it? Thanks

If that doesnt turn out to be the gas cap I know a way that you can toggle the ignition to get the code to blink. turn the ignition on and off 3 times the third time leave it on and the check engine light will flash. for example it will flash --- --- that would be a code 33 but with chrylsers I'm not sure what the start cycle code is and what the end of cycle code is. if anyone can enlighten him please help out. I just use my scan tool.

Nope tight as can be. I had just changed the oil earlier that day. Double checked everything. Everything is tight, and oil level is good.

I've heard that '98's can't be checked by using the ignition on/off thing. If he goes to an AutoZone, they'll pull the codes for free.

Thanks, I didn't know that they would pull those codes at an auto zone. I'll go check that out. As for the toggeling the ignition switch. That only works for 97 Dakotas.

Hold your trip reset button and turn your ignition to the accessory position, while still holding the trip botton.

I did, that seems to re-set the system but the light turns back on. So I need to find out what is turning it on.
