Message: The radio static is still bad since the dealer replaced the radio and the more I think about it, it seems like something with the antenna. So I have 2 questions:
1) I noticed that the plug on the antenna wire is completely rusted where it goes into the base of the antenna. Could this be cause any sort problem, such as a weak connection?
2) A co-worker mentioned that I could buy an FM signal booster for the antenna to try and get the stations in clearer. I looked everywhere tonight and no one sells them anymore. The guy at Radio Shack told me that they really dont work. Is this true? They guy at Best Buy didnt think it would help but didnt have one for sale anyway. Does anyone know anything about them?
Thanx

Message: I was told that those boosters did not work.My antenna is rusted in the same spot the dealer supposedly checked the antenna resistence when i had it at the dealer and it was ok even with the rust.I looked under the dash today and did not see the ignition wires that they said they rerouted but i still have no static i put my pioneer back in today and works great.I did notice that when i listened closely on a station with talking not music that it increased when i hit the gas that was the static that i had. What state are you in maybe your dealer can call my dealer. But all my dealer did was get on the phone with dodge maybe your dealer refuses to ask for help.

Message: Ground straps help for most noise on ANY kind of radio. I have been a ham radio operator for 25 years and the only noise in my radios in my 98 Dakota is comming from the electric fuel pump INSIDE the gas tank. The service people know how to fix it. There is a Chrysler Noise Suppression kit for it. I'm afraid they would rather pull your leg and not have to install the $150.00 or so kit! If your vehicle is under warranty COMPLAIN ABOUT IT! THEY have TO INSTALL THE KIT! ............Chuck

Message: 1999 Dakota SLT.........this cd changer and radio intermittently lose total power. I cannot get any power to the radio etc. After speaking to a Mopar guy, he said to disconnect the battery for about 15-30 seconds and then reconnect it. I did this and it worked. I certainly dont want to be doing this every week or so !! Has anyone had this occur, and if so, what is the fix to this? I am flustered on this one. Any help woould be greatly appreciated !!

Message: I have a 2002 Dakota and "AM" is full of static. This started roughly one year after I purchased the truck. I have a feeling it is the antenna. With the radio on (AM), I can grab the antenna and it works like a champ. As soon as I let go, all AM stations are static. FM works fine. This is just a heads up for you guys that have this same problem.

Message: have you tried hitting it? That works for my VCR. Just kidding. Do you have an external amp, or crossover? If so, check all connections. You can use an ohm meter to make sure each individual cable is carrying the correct amount of juice.

Message: I also have a radio problem with my '96 Dakota. My FM quit working altogether.I still have AM but with alot of static.I suspect some kind of major electrical problem due to the fact that on occasion I lose all dash lights and the speedometer. I will never buy a Dodge again. All my future vehicles will be Honda or Toyota.
