Subject: moog ball joints from rockauto IP: Logged
Message: Can anyone tell me if the Moog ball joints for the 98 and 99 dakotas will work on a 2000 dakota with the 4.7 engine. Rockauto's website doesn't list these ball joints for the 2000 dakota. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Message: I think there's been acouple of other guys here that have tried it and they've worked. Maybe one of them will speak up. I couldn't tell you other than word of mouth.

Message: They should work because the stock ones for 1997-2002 haven't changed one bit.

Message: For 2000-UP I believe they did changed the way that the ball joint mounts however. It looks like they sandwiched it between the control arm and a metal plate that is welded to the control arm so the only way to replace them is to replace the control arm. This is what I was told and shown when I had my truck in the shop to get aligned and ask my mechanic about the condition of my ball joints. (fortunately they're in good shape.

Message: You could call Napa Auto Parts. I just called them about upper ball joints for my 99 Durango. They have them for around 54.00. Better than replacing the whole control arm from the dealer for 179.00.

Message: I work at the Daimler Chrysler Plant that makes the Ball Joints and believe me they are the same Ball Joints. They did not change or the way they are mounted. The ones with four holes are the Lower Ball Joints and the ones with three holes are the Upper. Just remove the Control Arm and take a Torch (if you are good with it) or a Plasma Cutter. If you don't have either, then you can ground the rivets down and try knocking them out. Be prepared to pack your lunch because it will take you some time to do it.
