Beware of the guy selling fuel doors on ebay. He is sellin Mopar Parts for double what you can buy them from the Parts counter at your local dealer. He is also using false advertising telling people that they retail for 119.00 witch they don't. They retail for arount 65.00 witch you can find on the Dodge website. This guy is a crook and if you did buy a fuel door from him I would contact ebay and file a complaint and demand your money back

I might be missing something here, but what's the problem? If people are willing to buy them at the price he's selling them for, then he has every right to sell them for that price. I don't see how Ebay can do anything either. I see this happening with audio equipment all the time. Think of it this way, if he was selling them for too much, then no one would buy them and he would either have to lower his price or sell no fuel doors.

Shouldn't he have the freedom to sell products at whatever price he chooses to sell them for?

I believe telling people is a very nice thing on your part, but trying to have ebay bring some sort of action against him is absurd.

Think of it this way. You bought a brand new truck for $25,000 from your dealership. Then, you talked to your friend a week later who bought the exact same truck as you, but for $21,000. If you went and demanded $4,000, do you think you will get it?

I'd consider that false advertising to show a manufacturer retail price that is almost double that actual retail and he should be reported to Ebay if possible. There are too many scam artists on Ebay and everywhere else. The uninformed, slow to catch on public needs to be protected from low-lifes like this.

Of course, it's buyer beware and "they should have checked out pricing to make sure it was a good deal", but why should you need to on a legitimate sales source such as Ebay? Personally, I always shop around before making a purchse to avoid dirtbags like this, if everyone in the world did, no more bloated sales pricing would exist:) They should lock'em up and throw away the key, or at least revoke his privelege to sell stuff on Ebay until he becomes an ethical member of society.

But thats just my opinion, and there are always two sides to an argument.

i would have to agree with xplikt lazy people that dont shop around are basically bending over for the guy... and if there will to take it up the a$$ then that guy should give it to him....everybody does it ... why should he be excluded? also as far as you know The ebay seller could have been just as lazy as the people he is selling it too and looked at ONE source and there price was 120.00 so in HIS eyes ... he is not lying.... ALSO "Of course, it's buyer beware and "they should have checked out pricing to make sure it was a good deal", but why should you need to on a legitimate sales source such as Ebay?"

WTF!!! "legitimate sales source " is there even such a thing? did you just thaw from a 1960's ice cube? lol you cant trust anyone this day and age.... its sad but true

If the retail is $69 then that's the retail at ever Dodge dealer and on the website, there is no "I was told $120 retail". There was some confusion on the R/T rims as there were 2 different part number with 2 very different retail prices ($160 -vs- over $300) they were the same wheel though and lots of people paid way to much for their R/T rims off ebay. If they guy is saying they reatil at $120 then he's being dishonest and I personally appreciate the heads up. On another note, most every dealer will sell parts for 10-20% under retail so the doors should cost $56 down at the loacal dealer with no shipping. Here is the info from the mopar website:
#82207715 Satin Brushed Chrome replacement Fuel Filler Door $69.00

That was my whole point of this post. it is not that he is selling it for 100.00 it is that he is saying that the retail is 119.00. He is trying to take advantage of people because very few people know that dodge makes this part now. Before all you hade was the billet one that did retail at 120 or so. I have nothing against making profit but if you do it by lying then thats wrong

Before someone starts filling this guy's e-mail box full of hate mail or threats...

He's not a con artist. He's not a thief. He's not committing fraud. He's not doing anything illegal.

He is selling a product. People pay him for this product. He delivers the product. This is business.

Where he bought it from, whether directly from Mopar, through a distributor, or over the counter at his local Dodge dealership, is immaterial. He has a product, and he's selling it to the public.

How much he's asking for the product is up to him. There is no law that says a retailer must sell products of this sort at any specific price. Businessmen who don't profit from sales go out of business. There is no such thing as a fixed price for anything - anyone who has studied economics will understand this. Supply and Demand dictate the price for a product, and nothing is finite.

Him advertising the retail price of fuel doors as $120 is a little bit deceiving, but it is not incorrect. AMP Research sells "billet fuel doors" for $145 on their own website. Premier Automotive charges less markup, offering the same product for $120. Companies like www.Autotoyaz.com charged $220 for the same item. A guy who buys fuel doors in bulks of 50+ sells them on E-Bay for $90. Saying that "Billet fuel doors retail for $120" isn't a lie. There isn't a parts counter out there that doesn't make a considerable amount of money on the items they sell, for all we know there are some Daimler-Chrysler parts counters marking them up that high, or a local retailer re-selling these products at that level of markup.

The customizing shop down the road from my office sells clear corners for $90, Euro Tails for $260. These prices are typical for businesses that aren't internet based. It's a lot easier/cheaper for a group of guys to sit in a warehouse just re-routing boxes on/off a truck vs. having to pay the labor costs of opening a storefront and answering a billion questions a day from people who walk in the door but only browse.

Shop around before you make your purchases and research the item you wish to buy beforehand, and inevitably you will save money and be more confident with what you bought. But don't bite the head off the guy who charges more than someone else, they're just trying to make money like every other business.

Sorry to repeat myself (I posted something similar on the members board), but the day ebay went online, it was like everything suddenly became more valuable. Something people wouldn't step on if they saw it on the sidewalk, they can't wait to overpay for on ebay. Some ballplayer chews gum, spits it out and posts it on ebay...it MUST be valuable!

Hmmm...I've got 2 dogs....I wonder if there's a market on ebay for dog doo...

I still says he's lying in his ad (or I guess you could call it "deceiving" but whatever you want to call it, it's a lie). He says "these retail from $119 on up" (actally the ad he ad last week said $145). Why not say they are available in different colors? or that they are made form solid gold, or that they retail for $119 on up? Those are all lies. Sure he can as whatever price he wants but the ad needs to be truthful (Unless you are selling some organic health food crap, in which case the flower childern got a loophole somehow.) He could change the wording to, "SOME billet feul doors retail for more then $119" But he says THESE (as in the ones he is selling) retail for $119 on up. The one he sells are the mopar ones and the mopar ones retail for $69 everywhere, everytime.

I agree with 2THEXTRM. He is falsely advertising a product. It's not like he is just selling them for the higher price and not saying they can get them cheaper, he is saying that the Mopar fuel doors retail for $119 which has been proven to be false.

"AMP Research sells "billet fuel doors" for $145 on their own website. But AMP research is the manufacturer, they set the "retail" price which we all know is higher than they actually are. And as far as retail shops marking up the prices, we also all know that happens, but it's not like the stores are advertising them as being under retail, or that they normally cost more than they are selling them for. That woudl be like the dealer saying that the MSRP on a Dakota R/T is $40K when the sticker price says $25K.

He is ripping people off, and it's im-morale the way he is doing it.
