I've got an '02 with 5 speed AT and I'm sure it was available in '01 as well. I think it's only available with the 4.7l V8. It not a true 5 speed, but a regular 4 speed with an alternate 2nd gear. Dodge calls it a "Multi-Speed" unit.
Basically the truck has two 2nd gears and picks which one you need based on throttle position, speed, accerelation, load and so on.

Actually, the 5speed is new for '02. I have an '01, and it is a 4spd with 2 kickdown gears. But the '02 (&'03) is a true 5spd with also 2 kickdown gears. Anyone know what they changed? I had heard that is was just a reprogram of some kind, but that seems kinda strange...
