I have a '97 Dakota Sport 4x2 2.5L 5 speed how can I tell if I have ABS? 4 wheel or 2 wheel? Thanks.

Easy way. ( BUT IN A SAFE MANNER)
from 30 mph or so...
Suddenly stop like ur gonna stop short...
If your brake pedal pulse'es you have ABS..
If u tires lock up..u don't have it...
REMEMBER TO DO THIS IN A SAFE MANNER

Look under the hood. If there is a controller by the brake booster you do have it, if there is no controller you do not.

check under the hood next to the master cylinder if the is an aluminum type device. those are your ABS solenoids. also check your front tires(inside)to see if you see a tooth disk next to the spindle or rotor. But the easiest way is to go to the dealer and ask them for a detail list of your truck. they get it through the VIN number. In that list it says everything your truck came with.

did they make them for the front wheels in that year or not? you'll have a gear looking thing on the inside of your rotors. For the rears you'll have another set of teeth right on your ring gear.
