Subject: Safety Danger, please help. IP: Logged
Message: I have a 92 Dak CC with the 60/40 bench and have notice that under hard braking or me just pulling on it the passenger seat will slide forward with surprisingly little effort. I have a passenger 80+% of the time so this is a real problem. Any ideas?

Message: I think there is a ratcheting latch mechanim under there, could be as simple as a worn out spring thats not holding the latch down anymore. Take a look.

Message: On my 94' there is a rack on either side of the seat track. When you pull the handle it disengages the seat from the rack and a linkage connects to the other side doing the same thing. The spring in the handle might have gone or maybe it needs some grease. Whatever it is, the seats aren't hard to take off and look at the mechanics of them.

Message: hey 92dakotahd,
i noticed in my 91 CC (5.2L 4x4) the same thing was happening. so i checked the owners manual and it says that the passenger seat is designed for easy movement for access to the club cab. they had a special name for this but i forget what it is, but they say the seat is supposed to stay in place in a sudden movement forward. but check ur manual to be safe. just a thought. but if it is busted and its not supposed to do that let me know!!

Message: The seat moving on its own is a problem, but not one that should be a true safety concern. The seatbelt is independant of the seat, so if something were to happen, the belt would still hold.
Fixing the seat is still a good idea though.
