Message: Dang DakUSA, it cost 6500 dollars for just that?? Mine's a little bit more worse. Is it because of the hood and clears and ground effects and all the mods that made it go high??? Cause yesterday, i got an ESTIMATE, of a little more than 6100. It's gonna have to replace the radiator, condensor, whole front end and 2 doors. Not sure bout the motor, i looked and the fan mashed into the motor so i dunno...PICS ARE COMING TODAY IN A COUPLE HOURS!!

Message: All those estimates are making me feel better. Drew, if your damage is worse than DakUSA's, then I still might be able to get mine fixed. Mt front end damage sounds about like yours, but my doors are fine. I need three new rims and a new rear window though. Also, almost the whole truck will have to be repainted which will hurt.

Message: MIne actually looked worse than yours, but about 1500 less to fix. I decided to say fuk you OEM parts and am now replacing them with mostly aftermarket parts. I got lucky this time. It's all parts I eventually wanted to replace anways. Guy at the body shop said a little to either side or tad more in and it would have been several grand more. I hit mine dead centre.
That does suck though. Dodge parts are so damn expensive.
OEM List prices:
Radiator: 350
Condenser: 300
SLT bumper 350
Valence w/out fogs ~250
All bumper support pieces: 150
Hood: 250
Grille: 260
Q-panels ~450
Now I'm looking at some wrecked 99-00 Subaru 2.5RSs to race in auto-x instead. Good luck on the truck!

Message: Ouch! Wow, I thought my insurance deductible was big. I got rear-ended (hit and run) last winter, while it was parked. The rear bumper was replace, the driver's side rear panel, painted, undercoated (lol) and the total was $1600. I had to pay deductible of $300. Hopefully yours looks worse than it is.

Message: Drew-- It was in part because of the hood that was 800.00 to replace ten add in the speed grilles and ss bumper cover. The clear corners are way cheaper than the stock ones. I also have to replace everything you said was wrong on yours except my doors were fine. The truck I hit had a class 4 hitch on it and the receiver went all teh way into the fan so everything from the motor forward wsa replaced.
HSKR-- When you get the quote from body shop ask them how much they quoted you for replacing the wheels. I will bet they will be around 300-500 each for the R/T replacment wheels. If it is so tell the body shop to order the wheels from the dodge accessory parts catalog they are only 160.00 and you can get them as cheap as 120.00 each from the dealer and they are the same rim That might save you some money for other stuff. Get as much aftermarket stuff you can.

That's what I am trying to do right now. It's saving me loads of cash and it will look better. If the engine isn't hurt and you go this route, you'll like it more in the end!
I wasn't able to find any aftermarket radiators though. Some would be the same size if I custom ordered one. Then it would take a shop to do a custom install to get it in there. Pain in the ass I thought, so I skipped the aftermarket on the radiator.

Message: I was coming down the interstate in my old car doing about 90mph and all of a sudden I noticed someone in the road. A ford ranger was just sitting there. He must have had a 5 speed and was just sitting without touching the brakes. As soon as I saw him I slammed on the brakes and started downshifting. Locked up all 4 tires and stopped about 2ft from him. I almost crapped my pants. Not in the truck I was flying down some trails late at night and where 2 trails came together there was a big open spot so I swung it wide not realizing it cut back real fast and slid into a tree stump at 60. It hit directly on the frame rail and just punched a big hole through the air dam. It also took out my fog light. After I got prices for a fog light and an air dam I just bought some better lights and some tow hooks and cut out the bad spots. :D Cost me $70 for everything and it looks much better IMO

Message: Yes, I will work with the body shop to find cheaper aftermarket parts. I know about the cheaper wheels from Mopar instead of factory replacements. Also, woudl like to find a cheaper rear window. The insurance guy said the rear solid window on the cab was almost $500. I told him about the cheaper wheels from Mopar and he literally said "Whatever". Everytime I told him about something he didn't, or didn't think I would/should, know as far as price of parts he seemed kind of upset because I knew it and it made him look bad. I know a lot more about my truck or Dakotas in general than he coudl ever know. He even tried telling me that I couldn't use a front bumper off another Dakota in a junkyard because the R/T had a different design. Only difference is the R/T bumper is painted. Oh well.

Message: DakUSA, so your sayin it's possible to get like a custom hood to replace the hood instead of the same hood so i'll get something better? I don't believe that's possible with the insurance company, because they pay for mostly everything and i only pay a deductible and will not want to play an extra hundred or so on this and that...so, exactly how can i get a custom hood or something like that???

Message: Xplikt, I didn't know you busted up your truck let alone autocrossing! That sucks! I thought the track I raced on was a little to close to some posts as well, and there was a spot you had to do a 90 degree turn into a curbed area and come to a stop. Seemed uneccessarily dangerous to me, I'd prefer to keep everything out in the clear. The guy with the beat up $1500 Camaro says such brainiac things like "It shows who really has balls out here." Sorry no thanks, I've seen vipers and Z06 vetts at these autocross events and they have a hard enough time with some of the dips in the parking lot let alone curbs and trees!

Message: Yeah, I made an oops. It's not too bad, mistakes happen. People go out pretty often actually, but mine happened to encounter a tree. Partially bad luck, partially me pushing it harder in spots I shouldn't have. I am not going to race my truck anymore, I just can not afford any mistakes. I would if insurance wouldn't rape me or I could afford costly mistakes, but I can't.
So instead, it's time to find some salvage 2.5RS! Heh, you don't know of any in Missoula do ya?
