 Subject: tire pressure

im running 31 bfg and the max pressure is 50 psi.i am running them at 40 psi allowing for a better ride. everyone i talk to run the max 50 psi and i was wondering what tire pressure is suitable for all around best performance (gas mileage,noise,handling,tempature and most of all wear)thanks steve

Probably wears better where you have them now (more tread on the ground) but MPG's usually the best at maximum psi.

I'm running 33 bfg's on my Jeep and have them at 30 psi. 30-35 has been the recommendation by many people (some knowledgeable and some not :-)). Been running that way for over a year. Still perfect. I think the 33's are similar in max pressure as the 31's. Hope this helps.

Everything is a trade-off, I too wonder what is the best amount. I do know safty is comprimised if too high or too low though....so I choose mid 30's-40 psi. Make sure it handles well under hard braking,would be my thought...good luck.

the only problem you may see with max tire/high air pressure (over inflation) besides handling is the tires will wear out in the center, where under inflation will cause the outside edges to wear out before the center. this air pressure thing has to do with weight/load being applied to the tire. more weight higher pressure up to max. for what it is worth.

I have 32x11.50's. I run 35 PSI all the way around. Ran a chalk line across the tire and drove down the street. Tire wears almost perfectly flat.

I'm still running the 31" goodyrs that came on my 2000 4x4 and they have about 21k miles on them. The max pressure is 50. I keep them about 47 If I go lower around 40 my gas goes to crap. If I run the 50 it feels like its bouncing around the road to much when I hit bumps.

I'm running stock 31" Goodyears, max pressure 50 I keep it at 32/35 cold that's what is recommended without a load.
Jim runs his tires at 47, to me it's like driving on 4 ballons. Which will probably wear uneven too.

Actually Anthony they are wearing pretty even. I'm not having any wear problems at all. I thought I would see some bad wear and have to adjust but they are looking good. I used to run about the same pressure on my old truck and I got about 61K on the tires before I changed them. They could have gotten more miles on them, the only reason I changed them was I switched to a bigger tire. But hey we all like the feel of different rides so all I can say is run them they way you like it and the trucks ride.

IS IT BETTER TO RUN AT 60PSI. OR IN THE 50PSI. RANGE OR SOMEWERE IN THE HIGH 30 OR LOW 40 RANGE FOR BEST TIRE WEAR

I run my 31's at 50 for best milage. The original stock tires just came off - I rotated them like you should, and they wore perfectly even at that pressure (on the stock 8" rims). They won't wear in the middle at that pressure unless you have them on narrower wheels. At that pressure you may notice the rear stepping out a little when you hit a bump in a turn though, especially with a RC truck, unless you've upgraded your shocks. Just airing the rears down will help that.
