Stupid question time!

What is a HEMI engine and how does that differ from a regular engine? Is it just more power?

Thanks.

Thanks Joe_himself -

No need to explain further. The website you posted gave me some key words to use in a Google search, and I found a ton of info on the HEMI engine and history. Thanks Joe!!

If you want more go to your local dodge dealer and order the Hemi book. It's about the old elephant motors, but it has all kinds of technical drawing and history. Basicly way to much info.

A hemi has the combustion chamber in the head round or hemisphere shaped with the spark plug located in the center of the dome. It is one of the most efficient designs. But the heads require a lot more metal and are quite heavy. So Chrysler dropped the motor for lite wedge shaped combustion chamber motors.

that is NOT why Mopar dropped the engine in a producton vehicle, they dropped it because the insurance companies refused to insure vehicles producing that much power.
