Subject: Redline Tranny/Rear End Order. Help Pls? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, I don't have my manual with me where I'm at and I have no idea how much Red Line I should be ordering and exactly what type. Thanks!
I have a limited slip, so do I need the modifier or does the MTL-90 atlready contain enough to where I don't need any?
Thanks.

Message: you'll need two bottles of the MTL-90 for the Tranny .. and three bottles of 75w-90 for the diff. You wont need any friction modifiers with the diff. fluid.
Don't use the MTL in the diff .. it's API GL-4 rated, you want API GL-5 for the rear end. the MTL is good for the tranny though (I think MTL stands for Manual Transmission Lube, but I'm not too sure)
hope that helps!

Message: I used a little over two qts. of Amsoil HDD 5w-30 in the tranny and Amsoil Series 2000 75w-90 in the rear and I prefer it over anything else.
That transmission never shifted so good !!
But ... to each his own :-)

Message: You will like the MTL. I recommended it in all the 4 speed muncies to my Corvette clients. It shifts just like the old whale oil gear lub did. I have never owned a trany that required motor oil so I can not speak to that. I have about 70 Corvette clients useing the MTL in older applications with nothing but praise and two C5 race Corvettes useing it with nothing but praise as well. Redline MTL and their gear lubes are excellent!!!!!!! The best part is that they are better and cheaper then OEM fluids!! Most of my clients were useing Mobil 1 and experinceing notchy shifts and sychros not meshing proerly. The MTL solved that problem.
