Subject: dag-blasted front end CLUNK!

So the dealer claims the the clunking noise coming from the front end of my 2000 Dakota QC 4.7 is a combination of a bad steering coupler and bad sway bar bushings.

Steering coupler is covered under warranty! (phew!) but the sway bar bushings aren't. Hmmmm....

They're only 20 bucks worth of parts, but an hour-and-a-half of labor to install, so the dealer wants over $140. Can't I do this fairly easily myself??? If it's just dropping a few clamps and sliding on new rubber sleeves, I'm game for it.

Just trying to save some hard-earned cash by doing the things that I really CAN do myself.....the dealer tried to sell me a tune-up for $60 that consisted of nothing but spark plugs....

thanks!!!!

Just did it last weekend. Along with the ball joints. If all you're doing is replacing the sway bar bushings, it's pretty easy. You should first buy some polyurethane replacement ones. I got them at macsspring.com. Twenty some bucks. Just to let you know... the ball joints are a little bit more involved, But what a difference!!!!!!!!!
