Subject: leather seats?! IP: Logged
Message: My 02 Quad Cab has the leather seats (I didn`t really want leather but this was the closest veh. they could find with the options I wanted without ordering one for me , and I didn`t have 2-3 months to wait) and the drivers side seat has looked like crap after 2 months of use. Now , I just drive this thing 7-10 miles a day to work and back , and I`m not 300lbs , and I don`t get in and out of it 10 times a day.
All the other seats look great , I apply a good leather cond. at least every other week and baby the heck out of this truck. The dealer said there`s nothing they can do , that`s just the way it wears...I say YEA RIGHT!
Anyone else notice their leather seats looking unusually worn?

Message: I have leather in mine and everything seems ok. Are you talking about the wrinkles near the corner on the drivers side? The corner part of the seat that faces out towards the door right? I dont think there is anything you can do about those they are just wear and tear from normal use I guess. I would guess that they are caused by the leather being continually squished down when you get in and out of the truck. I looked at mine and there doesnt appear to be a lot of padding that stops the seat from squishing down that far which in turn causes to leather to wrinkle. My only suggestion would be to use zaino bros leather conditioner as well as their cleaner when need be. I use the conditioner about once every two weeks and the cleaner only when the seats get dirty which is rare. Their conditioner works wonders I think. Also make sure the thing is garaged whenever its not being driven and if it is out in the sun get some sort of sun shade for the window. Sun and heat are killers for leather from what I underdstand.

Message: My entire seat is wrinkled , bottom and back. It just seems like it`s wearing very quickly to me.
Oh yea, my truck is garage kept , and when it`s outside I always use my windowscreen.
You say the Zanio is god stuff though , I`llhave to try it.

Message: Zaino or Zymol. They are both great. My truck is also garage kept and I have the same with the drivers side. I guess it depends on what "animal" they used for the leather. By the way, my Cadillac looks the same way but is 9 years old.

Message: Think of the leather seats like a pair of leather shoes/boots or a leather coat - wearing them and you'll notice. So in a sense, when you're in your truck you're wearing the seat.
I had leather in a Cutlass and it was evident that the drivers seat was used much more than any other seat in the car after a year. It didn't look bad, but you could see the "creases." It's just a characteristic of leather.
Like Handi said, it depends what kind of leather it is. A few months does sound soon for it to be excessively worn, but not too soon for "creases."

Message: Something else I forgot to ask...does anyone else with the power drivers seat feel slight movement when stopping and starting? It feels like there`s a bolt loose in the seat track somewhere , but I`ve checked them all. It appears to be in the bracketry (?).

Message: I have the power leather buckets in mine, and I've never felt any play in the seat or the tracks.
The leather on the bottom outside cushion is the only place wrinkling, but like Ebola said, it's from getting in and out. I've been using Lexol on my seats with good results. FWIW
