Message: Hey Guys
I need some advice. I am thinking of selling my dakota and I want to know do you think, it is a wise move or stupid.
This is the deal. I got a new job a year and a half ago write after I got the dakota. I got a company explorer I can use when ever I want. So the dakota sits in the drive way all week long. I dont bother to drive it on the weekends if the weather is bad because why go through the trouble of cleaning it after, if I dont need to. It is a 4x4 and I dont need it for the winter any more and onece again why drive it in the bad weather when I have a free truck to abuse.
I want to sell it and get a De Tomaso Panter. I would rather have a toy sitting all week in the drive way than a practical truck. If it was only 2wd I probley would keep it and toy around with it. But its not and I have wanted to have a pantera for some time now. I could never afford to have them both.
So what do you think?
Tim

Message: As much as it pains me to write this, I will sell the Dakota. That is only if you are planning on having this job for a while and they aren't planning on taking the Explorer away from you. You shouldn't hold on to a car, no matter what it is, if it's not providing you with some form of satisfaction. Give up the Dakota and get something you will enjoy having in the driveway.

Message: I agree, if you're not using it, why keep it? It's costing you $$ whether you drive it or not, assuming that you keep tags and insurance up to date on it.
My only hesitation would be that the same thing happens to you that happened to me in a similar situation...I was furnished a company van, so I sold my "second" car, which at the time was a really nice '84 Caprice (back in the late '80's). About 10 months later, they laid me off, and I had to go out and buy some beater Cordoba just to get back and forth to work at my new job...food for thought.

Message: I would sell it in a heart beat for a sports car.
And I agree with you if it was 4x2, I would keep it and toy with it. I'm actually in the process of figuring out in selling my 00 CC 4x4 for a 03 CC/QC 4x2. But only if I get good $$$ for my 2000.
