I'm just wondering how long your stock brake pads lasted. I just hit 41K and the brakes feel a bit on the weak side, but no warning squeal has come about yet. Do the stock pads have the low pad warning?

Depends on braking habits. But you are at the mileage to start checking the front pads. Mine were changed at 38k. Don't want to cut the front rotors.

I had to have my rotors turned at 24,000 miles, but the pads looked good. I am now at 28,000 and everything seems to be holding up just fine.

I changed my original junk rotors at 36,000 miles and replaced the pads as well. The old pads were only about 1/4 worn. I have a 5-speed, so I use the engine a lot to brake the truck.

hmmm, is there a simple way to check the condition of the pads without actually taking them off?

Anybody have the Raybestos or Performance Friction Carbon Metallic part numbers for 2002? I went to get replacments at Autozone and Napa, and they didn't have the '02 info yet (my pads aren't worn out, I just HATE the grind/growl every time I stop, and the dealer won't do anything about it.)

Thanks.

I think there was a post on this not too long ago and I couldn't find the part number either for the 02s, may have been a different kind of part tho. Not sure.
