Subject: Stock Brake Pads... IP: Logged
Message: I'm just wondering how long your stock brake pads lasted. I just hit 41K and the brakes feel a bit on the weak side, but no warning squeal has come about yet. Do the stock pads have the low pad warning?

Message: Depends on braking habits. But you are at the mileage to start checking the front pads. Mine were changed at 38k. Don't want to cut the front rotors.

Message: I had to have my rotors turned at 24,000 miles, but the pads looked good. I am now at 28,000 and everything seems to be holding up just fine.

Message: I changed my original junk rotors at 36,000 miles and replaced the pads as well. The old pads were only about 1/4 worn. I have a 5-speed, so I use the engine a lot to brake the truck.

Message: hmmm, is there a simple way to check the condition of the pads without actually taking them off?

Message: Anybody have the Raybestos or Performance Friction Carbon Metallic part numbers for 2002? I went to get replacments at Autozone and Napa, and they didn't have the '02 info yet (my pads aren't worn out, I just HATE the grind/growl every time I stop, and the dealer won't do anything about it.)
Thanks.

Message: I think there was a post on this not too long ago and I couldn't find the part number either for the 02s, may have been a different kind of part tho. Not sure.
