 Subject: Why wont they fit?

I bought a set of 18" KMC wheels and I dont think they will fit my Dakota. My stock wheels are 15x8, 6 lug, they wheels I bought are 18x8.5 6 lug, now my question is why will they not fit?

What does not fit? the lug Pattern?maybe its a chevy lug pattern.
If not they should fit unless you have a drop kit and the backspacing does not work.

I got the truck up in the air, hasnt been dropped, lug pattern just doesnt line up to the holes.

You probably got wheels that have the 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern. The Dakota's and Durango's have a 6 on 4.5 bolt pattern, which is more rare than the 6 on 5.5.

Alex - LMAO - Apparently you may have bought size 8-1/2 shoes and your feet are 11's. You should have had the lady measure your feet before you bought them. I hope you didn't try to wear them, cause then you can't take them back. I know they look good, but take them back and get the right size.

Anyway.. I would think that would be a common mistake. Take them back and see if the will exchange them for the right bolt pattern.
If nothing else, you learned about bolt patterns today.

I may be an idiot, but if I needed a size 13 shoe, I damn sure would find out if the shoes I was interested in were a size 13 or if they were a size 8....... BEFORE I PUT MONEY DOWN.....
But that's just me. Guess Before I dropped a wad on some (pretty damn expensive)18" KMC wheels, I would see if they were a 6-lug on a 5.5" circle or if they were a 6-lug on a 4.5" circle. I probably would have explored that long before I spent money, so that I could avoid buying wheels that fit a full-size Chevy and actually buy wheels that fit my Dakota.
Again, I may be an idiot, but that's just me.....

Ted - check this link How to measure Bolt Patterns
Measure your new wheels they should be 4.5" apart from center to center. If they are 5.5" then you got the wrong Bolt Pattern on your new wheels and need to return them to see if the shop will replace them with the correct bolt pattern.. If they won't you'll learn how e-bay can become your best friend.

I do understand Alexs' sarcasm.
The shop should be liable if you told them what you were putting them there wheels on to.
If you bought a used/swiped/pawn shop set, as said, e-bay me be your best friend. Maybe you could even make money!

They should fit I have a set of 18 inch rockstars on my Dakota
but when ordered them they had to special order because of
the lug patern on my truck so that might be the problem
