Subject: Transporting engine ??? IP: Logged
Message: Just wondering if there is a good way to transport an engine in the back of my truck without breaking it or having it slam up against the sides of my bed.
I think I saw where someone used an old tire and put the sump of the oil pan in the middle.
Any ideas ???

Message: Just throw it in the back of the truck. Use common sense to keep it from sliding around. I dought it will do much sliding. They are heavy.

Message: I bought my 360 down in Buffalo and had to do around 4 hours of driving home with it in the back. The guy I bought it from did a great job of attaching it to a really solid skid, and framing in the sides with scrap lumber. I brought another skid with me, which we wedged up against the back of the cab, so there was no way it was going to come up against my window . The skid it was bolted to made a really stable platform for it to sit on, it fit the back of the truck really snugly, but we tied it down with straps and wrapped it with a tarp as well.

Message: Us old timers throw and old tire in the bed and set the engine in the center of it. If possible we put a couple on each side to keep it in place.

Message: I've also done the tire thing, and it worked very well. Just remember that you can't do any burnouts or take corners on 2 wheels, and it should be OK.
