i was wondering if anyone has ever thought of or tried turning a r/t into a 4wd r/t, because 4 tires sounds like alot better traction then 2, let me know if you have any ideas, thanx

It would be hard/expensive to find a transfer case that will hold up to racing.Don't get me wrong it can be done with a stock 4x4 trans. case but it wouldn't last very long. My cousin built a chevy 400 sb to about 380hp and put it in a 81 4x4 silverado, it would smoke all 4 tires but I think he went through 3 transfer cases before he jerked the motor out and put it in a nova.

Also, the added weight of the AWD would cancel out any gains from better traction. The fastest Sy/Ty's in the country are converted to 2wd for weight savings.

The best bet would be to start with a 4x4 but you will never get it to handle like a R/T. Plus as pointed out before buy the time you get it fast, the 4wd will hurt more then help unless you are talking about racing in the rain or something. Actually the best bet is to start with a 98 5.9 limited Jeep Grand Cherokee, they are pretty close to a R/T 1/4 mile wise, and while they can't cut an autocross track like a Dakota R/T they can handle the Rubicon pretty well!
