Message: I am looking at purchasing a 2001 dodge. It has a v6 high preformance and rattles on startup. I was told this a common thing with dodge and that it shouldn't bother me. The rattle seems to go away after startup
Is this true ?

I had a 98 with a V6, it never rattled. It still didn't after 5 years and 60 k miles. The only thing that ever rattled was the catylitic converter.

Message: sounds like timing chain or vlv. train (colapsed lifter) common for a v6 thats been reved high a few too maney times. Simple fix though, 10 bucks a piece for lifters and about one saturday and it'll be back to normal.
