 Subject: Stupid Shocks question

I just got a 97 5.2 4X4 and had the car lot put on some new rear shocks. I looked at them and noticed that they are backwards, that is they both face different directions. One is mounted infront of the axle the other is behind. Is this normal? looking at my repair book it is not,but who knows if should be for some weird reason.

Matt,
Thats the way they are mounted on my '02 4x4. I believe passenger is mounted in front of axle and driver side behind axle.

Thanks; I was thinking that maybe by having the shocks staggered it might help stabilize it? Still looks unusual, I was thinking for a min that something funny was going on! but I am still learning about everything.
