We the only brand with lots of problems? In my town, there are tons of chevy's and dodge's but whenever I go get something fixed (warranty work), its always packed. Do Fords and Chevys have problems too? I never hear Chevy owners having problems but then again, this is my first truck (Dakota). Never owned a Chevy before.

YEah, fords and chevys do break down just as much. I remember reading about a lot of Ford trucks that had issues with windows leaking into the doors, causing them to rust out, and tranny issues that were just as common (maybe moreso) than us. We owned an S10 for 8 months, brand new. Finally got rid of it after a bunch of parts broke or fell off going down the road. It was a deathtrap.

My dad owned a 1988 Ford F-150 5-speed V8 for about 11 years and NEVER took it in for work, outside of routine maintenance. The only time it was in the shop for an extended period of time was when someone pulled out in front of him and damaged the front bumper.

Having said that, he bought a 2002 Avalanche and he loves it, but it has been in the shop twice for warranty work, so everything is relative.

Dodge is right in line with the other makes. I agree with Mike and Todd.

I had a 99' s-10 extreme and it had it's fair share of time at the dealer. It was there for front wheel bearings, loose shifter, number 4 cylinder wasn't firing, seat mount was loose.
I leased this brand new with 26 miles on it.

I have a special ordered 2002 dakota, and the only problems I have are a squeaky drivers seat belt, and a little rust bubble under some weather stripping I found while cleaning the truck. and this is with 20,402 miles

If you notice, most of the s-10's problems were safety and a motor problem, no one's going to die from a squeaky seat belt or a little rust bubble.

"If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious shit."
