Message: Hey guys....just got my 2000 Dakota back, and she's runnin AWESOME!!! however....the k&n has like 30k since last cleaning....i got the kit, so hows the best way to do it?

Message: You should've skipped buying the kit, and only bought the K&N oil. Get yourself a empy gallon ice cream pail (keep the cover too). Get the gallon 409 household cleaner refill, and use that.

Message: Bang the filter on a surface to remove the larger debris. Works best if you use a low pressure - high volume spray of water from the inside out. Then spray the cleaner on, which works really well, let is sit and then rinse it again. Hit it with a decent coat of oil and maybe let it dry a little. Don't use too much oil, you can foul some silicone sensitive sensors.

Message: One thing to add, the filter should have no "white" spots on it after you oil it. The oil has a dye in it so you can check the consistency pretty well.
