An Ohio winter is appraoching!
I can buy a remote starter at the local parts store for about $50 or have one installed for about $200.
How tough a job is it?
Thanks

What Kind are you getting? I got a (pro start)
Installed it myself In half a day. Works fine, never any problems. You will need a multi-meter or at least a test light. If you have no electronics knowledge, dont try it. Just make sure whoever instals it has had experience in installing them on daks.

Thought I'd give it a go anyway. The one I bought was a Bulldog. Instructions are as clear as a bell and their wiring diagram on the internet was spot on.
Took me about 4 hours to do with plenty of checking before I messed with each wire. Works like a charm

I had a Design Tech. (i believe that is what it was) brand remote starter in my 95 Dakota. Worked great, took me 6.5 hours to install it. I got everything hooked up in 4 hours but couldnt get it to start. Turned out i had to program the remote (should have listened to the instructions, but i was too excited). Mine just had the button to start it and i could start it from around 300 clear feet, 100 mildly clear. Great for those of us that live in snow country.

Lester - where did you find a remote start for $50? I thought they were far more expensive.

Sams Club $49.95 (they are here in Ohio) The one I got included all the stuff for remote starting (installed) unlocking the doors (dont have powr locks) auto dome light (didn't bother) trunk release (dont need)
Im going to buy another one and install it on my wifes car (a cheap xmas present!!) It also comes with this cool little tester with green and red lights that you just touch against the wires and it tells you what it is.
Just for the record I have no automotive / electrical knowledge so do not be afraid!!
